Lee Hyori - Swing As quoted from AllKPop: Now, the music video of Swing might have been confusing for some of you guys since the storyline is a bit difficult to understand. The clown in the video represents Lee Hyori’s ex-boyfriend. Whoever it may be, the clown is supposed to come off as a hurtful and almost scary ex-boyfriend she’s had in the past. Since the whole song is about love and despair, it’s likely that an ex is incorporated into the MV. It’s also supposed to show that he killed her emotionally. In terms of love, he broke her by either going behind her back, breaking up with her or moving on, your choice to choose. The director of the music video said that the luggage is Hyori. This means that whenever the luggage was in the frame, Hyori wasn’t and vice versa. Because the clown, her ex, “killed” her, she is back to haunt him. That is why she is always behind him and surrounding him while he doesn’t even notice her. He tries to get rid of her by shooting and breaking the mirror but it doesn’t really work. All Hyori wants is to be loved again, which you can tell from the lyrics. She also uses past memories to haunt him such as the black balloons and the red shoes. It’s hard to say exactly what those things represent but it’s definitely something those two had memories of in the past. In the end, it is however you would want to interpret it so nothing is wrong or right but this is one way to look at it. I do have to give it up for Hyori for being original with this music video. While others would have incorporated flashbacks to show the how they broke up with the boyfriend, she decided to make it more mysterious. Hope this cleared up some of the confusing parts of the video. There are so many ways this MV can be interpreted, i just like the abstract-ness of it all. LYRICS: [chorus] look at me, the one that you once loved look at me, the one that you once loved is there nothing we can do for each now? why is our love getting tiring? when was the last time we were inside the deep darkness lips are drying up and my heart is losing happiness the cold wind is stroking by ears loneliness is adding up and getting soaked into dreams I’m missing the night we were together [chorus] look at me, the one that you once loved look at me, the one that you once loved [leesang –rap] if we’re apart for a long period of time, would we know each other’s hearts? will we wake up from the pressure of love? the midpoint of love and separation, who are we standing on top of it? who would be the one forgiving who should be the one to love and who should be the one that should be hurting I love you , even if I say I love you you’re only getting further away by the wind, even if get blown by the wind I can’t forget there are times when our misfortune days come and go, like if we’re on a swing instead let’s just break up if we were to meet again someday, then on that day let’s place newspapers all over the land like before, I will offer you my fingernails, cut them nice for me I will give into your chest, wash my hair for me when that day come love me again, love me [chorus] look at me, the one that you once loved look at me, the one that you once loved the clothes inside my closet cry while waiting for you the red lips i drew says that i love you repeatedly is it a sin to love you is it time for me to let you be now because of this loneliness it’s hard for me day to day love seems liek its a bunch of fomam bubbles mounting up even if that continues, i can’t let you go, a person like you even if that continues i wanna hang onto you, a person like you [chorus] look at me, the one that you once loved look at me, the one that you once loved Labels: hyori lee, song intro |
